Assuming this is for "base model" lamp assemblies (XT, Futura, Fairmont, NOT XR models).

Drivers side: If you have a security coded radio, you'll need to find the code, as this procedure is easiest by removing the battery & battery box, so the code is needed once the procedure is completed. Unbolt & remove battery tie-down, & remove battery. At the bottom of the battery box is a plastic screw to hold the box in place, unscrew 180degrees & remove box (carefully disconnecting hoses from side clip & vent duct at base of box). The headlamp wiring is connected via a plastic plug, which has a clip at the side to prevent dislodging. Squeeze the side of the plug (you'll be able to feel where, the clip springs in slightly) & pull off the back of the lamp. Remove rubber boot (dust cover), & unclip the headlight lamp.

Installation of replacement lamp is a direct reversal of the procedure above.

Passenger's side: Refer to procedure above, however depending on how dextrous your fingers are, you may need to remove the air filter & box to gain access to the lamp, however the procedure is the same in regard to unclipping plug, removing rubber cover etc, & likewise installation is a direct reversal of the removal procedure.

There is a simpler method albeit tricky to perform; you need either a thin set of multigrips or a long handled set of bent nose pliers.

The problem is the connector has two push in release clips at the bottom of the connector which are cunningly blocked by the body of the connector.

Using the multigrips or pliers carefully squeeze the release clips (one on each side) on the plastic connector without pressing on the rear of the connector, then push the connector to the rear to release it.
