for 2.5 v6on the 1997 2.5L V6 models there is a tensioner pully that is held on w/a bolt on the front of the pulley and adjusted with a bolt on the mount that is to the left of the pulley. be sure you don't have the spring loaded autotensioner because some models on the 1997 line had them. first you have to loosen the bolt holding the tensioner on. then the other bolt on the side of the pulley has to be loosened to relieve the tension on the belt. then just take the belt off and replace with a new one with it going on the right side of the alternator and the compressor pulleys the left side of of the tensioner pulley motor crankshaft pulley. when you start to tighten the belt you have to tighten the bolt that holds the pulley on till it holds it straight but not tight. then you tighten the adjuster bolt until the belt only flexes less than an inch in the area between the alternator and the crankshaft pulley. tighten the hold down bolt and start. listen for slippage when your transmission shifts when you are dogging the car out. if you hear a loud squealch when it shifts then the belt isn't tight enough.

on the 2.5L v6 model there is also a v-belt for the Power Steering pump which requires the removal of the serpentine belt for replacement.

Where is the tensioner pulley on a 1997 chrysler sebring?

On a 1997 Chrysler Sebring, the tensioner pulley is located on the front of the engine, typically near the serpentine belt. It is mounted on the engine block and is responsible for maintaining tension on the serpentine belt that drives various accessories. To access it, you may need to remove any components obstructing your view, such as the engine cover or other belts. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific details and guidance.
