Take off pumkin cover, on center pin in the diff there is a bolt on the botton of the bigger opening that holds pin in place, take the bolt out of the pin and tap the pin out. You have to tap out one side to get out one gear, then tap the pin back through and do the same thing for the other gear. Once you get the upper and lower gears out there are C clips that you have to take out so you can slide the axles out at the two middle gears will pop out. If you have any questions call me at 435-820-5242. and i will help you the best I can. GOOD LUCK....
He forgot to ask you if is posi or limited slip or one wheel wonder, you can not do this if it is posi or limited slip(clutch type).
how do you remove the spider gears in a 1999 chevy siverado?
Take away the webbing
.356's
It has a timing chain and gears.
It would have 3.73 gears in it
I have a 2001 Chevy silverado with the 5.3 and im almost positive i have 3.42 gears
bug spray ought to do it
they would be the same if both vehicles have same differentials . note that front and rear diffs on 4x4, must be matching ratio, to work properly when in 4x4
PROBABLY one of the little tiny itty bitty gears has stripped
Auto or standard?
That engine doe's not have a timing BELT. It has a timing chain and gears. The chain and gears are about $60.00 the gasket is about $12.00 and the Labor would run about $150.00.
First remove rear cover then remove cross pin bolt. Once bolt is removed then slide out cross pin. After cross pin is removed then use your fingers and spin the spider gears out.
