The cowl needs to be removed. There are 6 or 7 screws under the hood and 3 or 4 in the top of the cowl. You must first remov the wiper arms by pulling them away from the windshield and pulling the little tab at the base of the arm out from the gear. Then you can remove the cowl. You have to open and close the hood a couple of times to get it off. When you go to take the clip off of the end of the motor shaft before you pull the motor, be very careful, as the clip will sometimes sprout legs and jump into a particularly not easy place to retrieve it from. After that, install the new motor and enjoy.
