You will need an OBDII scanner tool to check the codes. If you don't access to a scanner tool, AutoZone and similar auto parts stores offer a free scan.
There are pages and pages of causes. Have it checked for codes with a scan tool.

To check engine light codes one would have to bring your vehicle to a mechanic who can use a computer to check the computer chip that regulates this function.
The check engine light has nothing to do with the washer fluid. If the check engine light is on you need to have it checked for codes with a scanner.

You may think there is nothing wrong but there is. If the check engine light is on there will be codes stored in the ECM. Have the codes read. The codes will help you determine what the cause is.

The check engine light is a " picture " of an engine , just to the left of the engine temperature gauge
Suggest you have it checked for trouble codes. The engine computer and airbag system should both have codes.
