I asked the question, now I'll answer it (thanks to Tom at Jordan Ford for his help): Disconnect the battery to prevent the airbag from possibly activating. Remove two screws from top of instrument panel cover, then pull it straight toward you and remove it. Then remove four screws that hold the instrument cluster in place. Pull the loose cluster rearward enough to access and unplug three wire harness connectors. Remove the instrument cluster. Lamp sockets can be removed by turning counterclockwise about 90 degrees. Light bulbs can be pulled straight out of the socket and replaced. They are an Auto Parts Store item.
To fix the odometer in your 1990 Plymouth Horizon, start by removing the instrument cluster to access the odometer mechanism. Check for any broken gears or connections, as these are common issues. If you find damaged parts, you may need to replace them or consider a replacement odometer unit. Reassemble the cluster carefully and test the odometer to ensure it's functioning properly.
The best way to fix a radio and odometer display that doesn't work is to check the fuses. When you replace the bad fuse then the lights should work in your dash.
Start by figuring out what the cause of the fault it, then go from there. Check for power at the lights. If you don't have that, check for continuity in the switch. If you don't have that, replace the switch.
check your odometer
im sure, most likely on transmission. your check engine light will go on, but make sure you clear that at autozone for free before you return to dealer, good luck :)
To fix the odometer on a 1982 Mercedes-Benz 380SL, first, you need to remove the instrument cluster. This typically involves unscrewing the retaining screws and carefully pulling the cluster out. Once accessible, check the odometer gears for any broken or worn components, as these are common failure points. If necessary, replace the damaged gears or the entire odometer assembly, then reassemble the cluster and reconnect it to the vehicle.
Yes, as the odometer is placed in a conspicuous place. Also, it is required by many auto dealerships to check how much mileage is in a car, to ensure that it still functions.
Borrrow a GPS, drive somewhere, compare the distance.
It will be a special tool that you'll need. Check with O'riely or a dealer.
Sorry, you can't do anything other than replace the speedometer itself. The speedo is driven by a magnet system which also gear drives the odometer which is tamper proof. Check with a dealer in your area and depending on state law, you may be able to get a used speedo unit from a recycling yard and the dealer will place a sticker on the car verifying actual mileage. ^^ That is incorrect, it is not tamperproof. The way to fix this is to replace the odometer gear itself. The gear costs $28. You need to remove the speedo from the instrument cluster and tear the back of the odometer apart to replace the broken gear. The following weblink explains it in better detail than I could. I did mine in about an hour, but your mileage may vary. http://www.backesfamily.com/TCProjects/Odometer%20Repair/odometer.html
probably need to replace the speedometer cable. if turbo check the big one that goes along the firewall possibly got burnt up on the down pipe
Check fuses. If fust blows repeatedly, check for short.
