Ford has no conventional way to check the Transmission Fluid on the 5R55N. The car has to be put on a lift and a goofy little plug pulled out of the side of the transmission. If the fluid level is at (or close) to the same level as the plug, you're OK. Not a job for home.

Hello, I too own a 2004 LS. As far as the transmission, these cars are equipped with an internal transmission. Which means, in short, only a cerified Lincoln technician can access the system. So you won't be able to flush, check, or add fluid to the system. I hope you found this information helpful.

I was looking at the 2000 Lincoln LS Owner Guide and it shows that the 5R55N automatic transmission does not have a fluid level dipstick
