Disabling the daytime running lights is a dealer/shop computer program change. When I asked to have it done at a Volvo dealer, the service rep said no way. I pointed out the owners manual said only Canadian models could not be shut off. He said ask sales and I did - they said sure and went back to the shop to tell them it was ok. Now mine are off. PS since I was getting something else done they did not even charge for it.
To turn off the daytime running lights on a 1995 Volvo 940, locate the fuse box under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. Remove the fuse labeled for the daytime running lights (usually marked as fuse 4 or 5, but check the owner's manual for the exact location). This should disable the daytime running lights. If you're unsure, consulting a professional or the vehicle's manual is recommended for further assistance.
To turn off the daytime running lights on a 2001 Volvo V70, locate the headlight switch on the dashboard. Turn the switch to the "off" position or the "position" for parking lights, depending on your preference. If the daytime running lights persist, you may need to consult the owner's manual for specific instructions or check for any related settings in the vehicle's electronic system.
your headlamp switch on the dashboard has a small screw on it. its a 3 position switch. turn it to switch daytime running lights off.
Some makes of cars have their lights on all the time, usually if the manufacturer is Swedish, where daytime-running-lights (or DRL) are mandated by law. If you check the cars which have lights on during the day, you'll notice they'll be Volvo, Saab or some other Nordic manufacturer.
Some of the safety features of the Volvo S40 are as follows; Anti-lock brakes, daytime running lights, center high mounted stop light, front impact airbags, driver side impact airbags, passenger side impact airbag, and overhead airbag. One of your running lights is burned out...
the only place would be the dealer turning the option off with their computer..but why would you want something that makes your vehicle safer off?? on my 2004 first generation model you can turn them off... put the lights in the middle position<parking lights> turn key to number 2 position, pull back turn signal lever towards you, hold it back and turn lights to off position and release...I am trying to remember..but this should be the steps... yes that's right it worked on mine.
the middle position of the 3 turns them off on my 01 S80
If your full beam doesn't stay on, make sure your light switch on the console is actually turned to "on". Unless you've had the daytime running lights disabled, then the lights will be on when switched "off" (!) and this means the full beam doesn't lock on, it only does "flash" mode. When the lights are switched "on", then the full beam should stay on.
when engine running , i took out msf sensor accidentally. Then lambda on ,
Hi All, I have a V40 Esate and having followed all the owners manual procedures getting nowhere was informed by the local dealership that the lights can only be turned off by them as it is a software issue and has to be limked to the Volvo manufacturers to comply with their regulations. Hope this helps, Barry
They should turn off when the ignition is turned off and the key removed.
