If your key will not unlock the door such that you can open it the issue is most likely the cable-spring assembly that the handle attaches to and pulls to unlatch the door is tight due to corrosion or rust. You can lubricate and probably free the cable-spring assembly by squirting a spray lubricant through the gap where the handle goes through the door. Spray through the gap toward the center of the door - the cable spring assembly is about 1/2 inch inside the door. If you need to get into the door from the inside you will remove the top 1/2 door panel first by pulling straight out at the bottom of the panel - 4 clips hold the panel in. The bottom half door panel is then removed by sliding it up about 1 inch to free the hooks that hold it.

The problem probably is with the rear latch assembly (electrical switch), the total cost to get it replaced, labor included, would be around 700 dollars.

To replace the hood latch cable on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, first, open the hood and locate the latch mechanism. Disconnect the old cable by detaching it from the latch and removing any clips or fasteners holding it in place. Install the new cable by routing it through the same path as the old one, securing it to the latch and reattaching any clips. Finally, test the new cable to ensure it operates smoothly before closing the hood.
If the tailgate latch on your 2005 Chevy Avalanche is broken, you can try using a flathead screwdriver to pry open the latch mechanism from the inside, if accessible. Alternatively, you can remove the tailgate cover to access the latch assembly directly and manually release it. If these methods don't work, consider using a slim jim or a similar tool to manipulate the latch. However, if you're unsure or uncomfortable with this approach, it might be best to seek assistance from a professional mechanic.
To fix a door latch on a Chevy Express van, first, remove the interior door panel to access the latch mechanism. Inspect the latch for any broken parts or debris, and clean or replace components as needed. Lubricate the latch with a suitable lubricant to ensure smooth operation, then reassemble the door panel and test the latch for proper functionality. If the problem persists, consider replacing the entire latch assembly.
should be an access panel on the inside of the tailgate for repairing the hardware
To fix the hood latch on a 2002 Chevy Cavalier, first, ensure the hood is fully closed. Then, inspect the latch mechanism for any debris or rust that may be affecting its operation.
