If you can not unlock the steering wheel after turning the key in the ignition, or are having trouble starting the car i.e. not being able to turn the key. The issue maybe your ignition cylinder. I had this issue my self, 03 zx3 . They easiest fix would be to goto your local Ford dealer and have a new ignition cylinder put in and while your at it have a spare key made. They're plenty of after market parts or Diy but after doing so you will need a key for the ignition and a separate key for the doors. Dealers can program your new key to work with every thing.
You can't, you have to replace the ignition switch
You start the car.
Try moving the steering wheel from side to side.
Try moving the steering wheel from side to side.
I work at an auto auction try turning the steering wheel both directions and the key will probably turn. When the wheel is up against the wheel lock, it sometimes prevents the key from turning. You'll have to hold the wheel one direction or the other. If this doesn't work, I don't know.
I'm assuming that your steering wheel has locked. Try jerking the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key to start it.
You probably just need to turn the steering wheel slightly.
A motor that is locked up cannot make a rotation. The motor will not turn over or start. Try to turn the main pulley. When the pulley cannot be by just, the motor is locked up.
its probably your steering wheel being locked. its a theft deturent, have to turn the wheel slightly in order to allow the key to turn the ignition so it will start.
I would replace the lock cylinder.
If your ignition will not turn, try turning the steering wheel slightly while you turn the key. Sometimes the steering wheel will get locked in place and doing this will allow the ignition to move again.
Your steering wheel is most likely locked, you should try to get your steering wheel in a different position, and it will start right up. My car used to do it all the time, it was such a pain. Good luck.
