Slightly turn the steering wheel and it should let you turn the key to on position
Remove the key from the ignition before locking. It is to prevent the keys from being locked in the car.
the inertia switch locks the ignition. this can occur without the airbags being deployed. if your car wont start it is a good possibility that the inertia switch has locked the ignition. the switch is usually located on the passenger side of the vehicle behind the kick panel on the right side
its probably your steering wheel being locked. its a theft deturent, have to turn the wheel slightly in order to allow the key to turn the ignition so it will start.
try this. while holding pressure on the key towards start, turn the wheel to the left and then to the right in short motions but as far as you can. if the steering column is locked then the key wont turn because of pressure being put against the locking cam. if this does not work then you are probably going to have to replace the ignition.
It means to be locked up
A key may get jammed in a Toyota Prius ignition due to several reasons, including a worn or damaged key, foreign objects obstructing the ignition mechanism, or issues with the ignition switch itself. Additionally, if the steering wheel is locked, it can prevent the key from turning or being removed. It's advisable to check for any visible obstructions and ensure the key is not bent or broken. If the problem persists, consulting a professional mechanic may be necessary.
depeding on what yr it is ... mine being a 1999 is mounted right next to the coil . on the passengers side of the motor . cost me 70 bucks at O'Reilleys
being locked in your room is a punishment, if you keep sneaking out while grounded then it is only right you should be locked up
As a general rule you can't. There is a retaining pin, screw, or nut that cannot be accessed or made to release the cylinder without the key being unlocked (cylinder in a certain position) - this is to prevent theft.
this vehicle is a diesel and does not have a wiring diagram for the ignition circuits as being a diesel it does not have spark ignition
turn ignition to on position 10 -15 mins or until anti theft light goes off, turn off 5 secs then start ,should run fine
Ignition switch! Try turning the key to "on" position without starting vehicle. Leave key on for about 10 seconds. Try this twice. I had a 1997 Chevy blazer that was getting no gas or spark. Drove me crazy for three months. pulled fuel pump ,(was working fine). Truck would turn over ,but would not start. It ended up being the ignition switch. My key & tumbler was ok, but the switch in there wasn't. Cost for ignition switch is about 130.00.
