Replace the radiator cap and be sure the coolant reservoir is kept full to the line, it will bleed itself.
It is inside the heater core box behind the dash assembly. The dash assembly must be removed to gain access.
I had the same problem with my 97 galant. There was air in the heater core.

Probably the evaporator core has mould on it and needs to be cleaned.
Not totally sure with a '97, but the blinker on my '98 is located on the passenger side, under the dash. Not sure exactly where I saw it (I remember seeing it when I took out my dash to replace my heater core), but I am positive it's on that side.
pull underdash covers and panelsif it wont come out the bottom then you have to unbolt the entire dash with the bigger screws in lower end corner of dash.and pull dash back enough to get to the heater box screws to open it up and remove the core
the heater core is located behind the dash on the passenger side of the cab. much of the dash has to be removed and shifted to get to the box that houses the heater core. the hoses that supply coolant to the heater core must be remove via the engine bay. it is somewhat of a lengthy process, but can be done with patience and time.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.Drain and recycle the engine coolant.Disconnect the heater core hoses using tool J-37097 or equivalent.Remove the right side sound insulator and the glove box module.Remove the programmer shield, if equipped, and disconnect the air mix valve link.Disconnect the programmer vacuum and electrical connectors.Remove the heater core cover, leaving the programmer attached.Remove the heater core retaining screws and the heater core.
The nipple next to the heater core hoses is the drain tube for the a/c . The antifreeze is coming from the heater core , that is leaking .
