I changed a power antenna on a 1993 Caprice Wagon. I took half of the bolts out whthat attach the inner fender on the right front wheel starting at the bottom left corner and working clockwise. I then loosened several others from the 12 oclock position. I was the able to pull the inner fender out enough to reach through the opening and remove the antenna cable & nut holding the antenna to the body.
Begin by removing the decorative cover from your 1990 Chevy Caprice factory radio. Remove the radio retaining screws. Remove the wiring harness and the antenna cable from the back of the radio.
Cut the electrical connection or remove the plug behind the radio. Buy a new antenna at Radio Shack. Remove inner fender (plastic) for access to antennna.
To remove the radio from a 1977 Chevy Caprice, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Next, pry off the trim around the radio using a flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool. Once the trim is removed, unscrew the radio mounting screws and carefully pull the radio out of the dash. Finally, disconnect the wiring harness and antenna cable from the back of the radio to complete the removal.
Remove the old antenna. Attach the universal antenna to the radio and replace the radio after finishing the task. Install the new antenna. Test to ensure the wiring works.
Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel if the entire antenna assembly has to be replaced.With the antenna in the down position, remove the antenna mast nut. Do NOT pull the antenna mast up by hand. With the ignition key in the ON position, turn the radio ON to raise the antenna out of the motor.
To remove the radio from a 1989 Chevy Caprice, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Then, use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry off the trim panel surrounding the radio. Once the panel is removed, unscrew the mounting bolts holding the radio in place, slide the radio out, and disconnect the wiring harness and antenna cable. Reverse the process for installation of a new radio.
remove the nut at the base of the antenna. Slide off the grommet. The antenna will drop os hold on the the antenna as you remove the nut and grommet. Once this is removed. You will see how to remove the antenna unit.
Remove the decorative cover from your Cadillac Eldorado radio. Remove the radio retaining screws. The radio will slide out. Remove the wiring harness and the antenna cable from the back of the radio.
Remove the cover from your 1986 Chevy Cavalier radio. Remove the radio retaining screws. Slide the radio out and remove the wiring harness and the antenna cable.
Remove the decorative radio retaining plate. Remove the retaining screws. Pull the radio out. Remove the wiring harness. Remove the antenna cable.
Unscrew it.
I was able to remove the existing power antenna on my '92 Cherokee through the wheel well. You have to remove three of the nuts attaching the plastic to the fender as well as pull out two plastic plugs. Pull back the plastic and you will see the power antenna right there. Good luck, Woody
