remove the split ring and then pry open the case.
Take the old key to ACE Hardware, and they'll cut you a new key, if that's what you're asking about (key fob).
To program a key fob for a 2001 Ford Econoline, you'll first need to have two working keys. Insert the first key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine, then back to "Off." Repeat this process with the second key, and finally, insert the new fob key and turn it to "On." Press any button on the fob, and if done correctly, the locks will cycle to confirm programming.
Here's a link- scroll to the post by Qslim- it has scanned pictures of the manual directions for programming the fob. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=212679&highlight=fob+programming
I'm pretty sure the dealership has to program the fobs. I programmed my key using the instructions in the owner's manual. They're really simple if you follow them step-by-step, but I'm not sure if the instructions for the fob are in there.
