To program a keyless remote for a 1997 Chevrolet S10, start by sitting in the driver's seat and closing all doors. Turn the ignition to the "On" position (not starting the engine) and then back to "Off" five times within 10 seconds, ending in the "On" position. The locks will cycle to indicate the vehicle is in programming mode. Press any button on the remote, and the locks will cycle again to confirm programming; repeat for additional remotes if needed, then turn the ignition to "Off" to exit programming mode.
You do not have to reset the keyless remote after battery replacement.

DID YOU TRY CHANGING OUT THE BATTERIES ON THE REMOTE??

You must contact a local Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep dealer. They need to program it using the vehicle's diagnostic computer system. It will likely cost around $30; you might be able to go to your original dealer and get them to program it for free. Good Luck!
Try the mirror control.
I have not tried the procedure yet, but since I am looking for a second remote myself and programming instructions, this procedure has popped up a couple of times from different sites. http://groups.google.ca/group/alt.autos.nissan/browse_thread/thread/e19284331460c7cb http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl034i.htm Good luck.
