To remove the air compressor on a Ford Taurus, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Next, relieve the refrigerant pressure from the AC system, then remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner. Disconnect the electrical connector and refrigerant lines from the compressor, and finally, unbolt the compressor from its mounting bracket and carefully remove it from the engine bay. Make sure to follow proper safety and environmental protocols for handling refrigerants.

To remove the air conditioner compressor from a 2000 Ford Taurus, first, disconnect the negative battery cable and recover the refrigerant from the AC system using a recovery machine. Next, remove the serpentine belt by releasing the tensioner, then disconnect the electrical connector and the refrigerant lines from the compressor. Finally, unbolt the compressor from its mounting brackets and carefully lift it out of the engine compartment. Be sure to replace any O-rings and seals when installing a new compressor.
how to take off a air conditioning unit on 96 ford taurus
remove it from the engine
If the starter bolts are difficult to remove on a 1997 Ford Taurus, they were probably put on using an air wrench. An air wrench can be used to remove them or a product called Liquid Wrench.
The air conditioner/compressor sits on the front passenger side on top of the fender. Remove the water reservoir and then you can disconnect and remove the air compressor. I do not know yet how to remove the air dryer as I cannot see how to remove the air lines from the dryer. I did remove the dryer from the compressor though, by removing a single screw then turning the 1/4 turn and pulling it out of the compressor....so at worst I will be able to put my new compressor in with the old dryer.
It does not have an Air Compressor. If you are talking about the A/C Compressor, then just look at the drive belts. One of these belts is driving the compressor. If it has one serpentine belt, it is driving the A/C compressor, PS pump, Alternator, & Water Pump. Just follow the belt to find it.
Blown fuse (compressor clutch) refrigerant leak
Remove the drive belt from the air conditioner compressor. Remove the air conditioning hoses from the compressor. Remove the retaining bolts from the air conditioner compressor.
I am unsure what you mean by bypass. The Air Conditioning system will not work with out the compressor. The compressor can be disabled by unplugging the electric clutch. Most of these little Fords could have a different length belt fitted so the compressor pulley didn't turn at all.
Remove the Freon from the compressor. Remove the air conditioning hoses. Remove the compressor belt. Remove the compressor retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new air conditioner compressor.
If you have the defroster on the ac will run. It dries the air to help clear the inside of a foggy windshield quickly.
