Start by removing the licence plate to gain access to the back of the tail lights. Remove the four screws retaining the gas door assembly and remove the rubber gas filler tray beneath it. Remove the four screws at the rear of the wheel wells. Reach in through the licence plate opening and remove the inner tail lights, two nuts each. Reach in through the inner tail light openings and remove the outer tail lights. Disconnect all of the remaining light sockets from their respective light assemblies. remove (4) 10mm nuts from each corner of the bumper reaching through the tail tight openings. Remove (6) 7/32" screws along the top inside edge reaching in through the tail light and gas filler openings. Remove (7) 10mm nuts each side behind the wheel openings by reaching up under the body. Pull the sides down and lift off.

To change the top tail light on a C4 Corvette, first, open the rear hatch and locate the tail light assembly. Remove the two screws or nuts securing the assembly, then gently pull it out from the body. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the assembly, replace the bulb, and reassemble by reversing the steps. Ensure everything is securely fastened before closing the hatch.

To change the bulbs on the third brake light of a C4 Corvette, first, open the rear hatch and locate the access panel for the brake light. Remove the screws or clips holding the panel in place, then carefully pull it away to expose the bulb sockets. Twist the sockets counterclockwise to remove them, then replace the old bulbs with new ones, ensuring they are securely in place before reassembling the panel. Finally, test the brake light to ensure it’s functioning properly.

I don't own a C4, however there are detailed directions on how to do this at Smokinvette.com and with pics too! So it is really laid out to make it an easy job. Are you changing the cheap plastic gears? A ton of C4 owners have and put in the brass gears. Good luck.
