With a hammer, a common screwdriver and a cold beer. You may want to place a small trash can under the steering column to catch the debris. Safety goggles are recommended to prevent small plastic pieces from getting in your eye. A cup holder for your beer (wouldn't want to spill it!). Also, cover your beer with a rag or something to keep plastic chips from getting in there.
Glad I could help.

how do install key ignition switch 1988 Chevy s10
The first thing you can do when your key switch won't turn off is to remove the positive cable from your battery. You will need to get the key switch ignition changed.
Insert the key, turn backwards to the accessory position. Insert a paper clip into the hole in the switch and push while turning the key counterclockwise. The cylinder will come out.
You would have to drill out the center of the lock or have a locksmith pick the lock.
If you take the vin number and proof of ownership you can go to a Chevrolet dealer and they can cut you a new key. I kinda think the OP is asking how to remove the Ignition Switch. You need the key to remove the switch without drilling and making a mess of the housing.
I'd call a locksmith. That could require drilling. Not easy for even a mechanical type person.
