If you take the vin number and proof of ownership you can go to a Chevrolet dealer and they can cut you a new key.
I kinda think the OP is asking how to remove the Ignition Switch.
You need the key to remove the switch without drilling and making a mess of the housing.

Could be a bad fuel pump.
Sounds like the bearings or bushings in your distributor are worn. With the cap off, check for any wobble or play on the shaft. If so replace the distributor.

Remove the retaining ring from the top of your 1997 Chevrolet 1500 ignition cylinder. Slide the ignition cylinder out and remove the wiring harness.
The ignition module on a 5.7 Chevy engine should be on top of the motor. It is mounted beside the distributor.

Its the brown wire from the distributor, goes to the fuses/relays on your firewall. unhook that and you will have your base timing.
