To remove the dash on a 1979 El Camino, start by disconnecting the battery to ensure safety. Next, remove any screws or bolts securing the dash, usually located around the instrument cluster and along the edges. Carefully detach any wiring harnesses connected to gauges or lights, then gently lift the dash away from the frame. Be cautious of any clips or additional fasteners that may need to be disengaged during the process.
The fuse panel on an El Camino of that style is located under the dash, where the driver's left leg would be. There is a square cutout in the under dash panel where it is located. You will have to lean under the dash to see it.
Pull headlight switch - left side of dash
I think it is under the drivers side dash on the left.
It will have the dash with all the gauges built into it.
Should be located in or near the fuse box - just unplug or in my case (85 el camino)there are two flashers behind the brake release under the dash, not down by the fuse box. (87) El Camino same place. Had to remove 6 screws to get to it. Look left and up (back towards driver) should be standard 12v flasher for both.
look under the dash on the drivers side.
more than likely a 3.08 gear.
With you hands and a flat head
