To remove the distributor on a 1997 Chevy Tahoe, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Then, mark the position of the distributor and the rotor to aid in proper reinstallation. Remove any wiring harnesses and the vacuum advance line, then unbolt the distributor hold-down clamp and carefully lift the distributor out of the engine. Be sure to note the orientation of the rotor as it turns when you remove the distributor to ensure correct timing upon reinstallation.
how do you remove and replace the distributor cap on a 97 chevy cavalier?. I can not get to it.
It's located in the distributor under the rotor.
It is screewed into the top of the engine block just behind the distributor.
It is a 4L60E
No it will not. The 96 and 97 transmission bellhousings are different.
A diagram for a 97 Chevy Tahoe shifting assembly can be found at Rock Auto. This can also be found at Twin Charlotte.
junk it
Yes, a 1997 Chevy Cavalier does have a distributor cap. The distributor does not have points and a condenser. This part is one electronic unit.
They both use the 4L60E.
do you mean it cranks, but will not start?
Ford and Chevy parts will not interchange, SORRY
You must remove the transmission pan to get to it.
