To remove the valve cover on a Lincoln Mark VIII, first disconnect the battery and remove any components obstructing access, such as the intake or ignition coils. Next, unbolt the valve cover using a socket wrench, starting from the outer edges and working inward to avoid warping. Carefully lift the cover off, making sure to check for any remaining gasket material on the cylinder head. Finally, clean the mating surfaces before installing the new gasket and reassembling.
