how do I replace the inside door handle on a 1998 chevy cheyenne?
you have to take the door panel off the inside first
you dont........you buy a new car.....
you need to remove the inside door panel to get access to the inside, remove the clips holding the door handle assembly and the whole thing comes off
If its the cables inside you need to remove the panels and replace the cables. You can in a pinch just disconnect them from the handle. Then pull them to release the door.
If it's the outer handle you would need to remove the door panel, then remove the rivits that hold the handle to the outside of the car. Then remove the window track and slide it down inside of the door and unhook the rod on the handle, and now you can slide the door handle out.
Remove the door panel
take it out
Here's a link I just found. Hope this helps http://www.bodyshopzone.com/archives/trim/door_panels/Chevy/CK1500_1998/dp_remove_chevy.html
Happened to me a few months ago. Remove the inside rear panel and pull the latch manually. Then you can unscrew the broken latch and replace it.
First look around the inner door panel for any screws or bolts. If none are found, you should be able to GENTLY pull it off (due to the hardware used). You should see some screws or bolts around the handle. Loosen them and replace the handle. You will need to line the hardware up well to put it back on.
To replace a thermostat on 1998 Silhouette, locate it under the top hose assembly inside the radiator. It is fairly easy to replace with the right tools.
You have to:Remove the door panel.Undo the rods off of the handle.unbolt the door handle from the inside of the door.
