If its a 2.4 twin cam its right on the top of the motor in the front. If you buy the part first. After you see what it looks like you should be able to see the mount for it. It only has one bolt holding it on and is very easy to change. The part only costs about $26. Good luck!

To replace the crankshaft sensor on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire with a 2.2L engine, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Locate the crankshaft position sensor, which is typically found near the bottom of the engine, near the flywheel. Remove any necessary components for better access, then disconnect the wiring harness and unbolt the sensor using the appropriate socket. Install the new sensor by reversing the steps, ensuring a secure connection and proper alignment.

It is located in the front of the engine, above the oil filter, next to the starter. Your going to have to remove the starter for easier access to the sensor.
The crankshaft position sensor on a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire is typically located near the bottom of the engine block, close to the crankshaft pulley. It is often positioned on the engine's front or rear side, depending on the specific engine type. To access it, you may need to remove some engine covers or components for better visibility. Always refer to a repair manual for precise location and removal instructions.
