The status of the lamp itself is monitored by the front electronic module (below left side of the dash). I had a similar problem with a brake light. I had to replace the rear module to correct the problem. I suspect you are looking at a similar solution with the front module. The SEL is one of the most computerized vehicles out there. Good luck.
The Front Electronic Module (FEM) on the Ford Windstar is a critical component of the vehicle's electrical system, responsible for managing various functions such as lighting, wiper operations, and communication with other modules. It acts as a central hub for processing signals from different sensors and switches, facilitating the operation of numerous electrical components. The FEM ensures that systems work in harmony and can contribute to diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical issues.
On a 2000 Ford Windstar SEL, the FEM (Front Electronic Module) is typically located under the dashboard on the driver's side, near the steering column. It may be necessary to remove some panels for access. The FEM is responsible for various electronic functions, including lighting and other control systems. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific details related to your model.
