Replacement of automotive positive cables is pretty much the same for all vehicles, so this answer will be generic in nature. Safety first ALWAYS. Any time one is working on a vehicle when there is even the slightest possibility of a tool coming into contact with a "hot," electrically energized conductor [wire, terminal post, bare connector, etc] it is imperative that the entire electrical system be disconnected from the battery FIRST. The safe way to do this is to first remove the NEGATIVE cable clamp from the battery negative terminal post by loosening the bolt on the cable clamp, and lifting the clamp off. Tension in the negative cable may cause the clamp to move back into contact with the terminal, so it is important that the cable be moved so that it cannot accidently recontact the teminal while you are working. Then loosen the positive cable terminal clamp and remove the clamp from the battery terminal post. Next, follow the positive cable to it's other end. There will be some type of connector [usually a metal "eyelet"] connected to an isolated solenoid or positive buss terminal bolt. With a properly sized wrench, loosen and remove the cable from the terminal bolt. IF the threads are dirty or corroded, removal will be easier if you first clean them with a small wire brush, and apply a small amount of penetrating oil, or something like WD-40. Install the new cable in the reverse order of above instructions. IF you have alternate transportation available, I recommend that you remove the old cable first, and take it with you to the auto parts supply store in order to make sure that you get the exact same replacement cable on the first trip. If you cannot do this, then when you get the new cable, take it out to the parking lot, raise the hood, and match it to the old one.
