use a 3/8 drive ratchet to loosen the tension and take your belt off. Then unbolt the center bolt of the tension assembly and replace with a new unit.
Typically, there is one pulley that is mounted on a spring arm to maintain proper belt tension. Just turn the bolt on the idler pulley and the tensioner will release.
If it is a serpentine belt you replace the tensioner pulley

Loosen the tensioner pulley on your 2001 Chevy Impala. The serpentine belt will become loose. Take the old belt off and put the new belt on. Tighten the new serpentine belt with the tensioner pulley.
It is the small pulley with a nut in the middle on the pulley assembly!
you need to get a wrench and turn the bolt (relieve the pressure on the pulley) on the tensioner pulley and remove the belt then turn bolt (relieve the pressure on the pulley) to reinstall it. The tensioner pulley is the one that is not your A/C pulley not your alternator pulley and not your crankshaft pulley its the only one that's left no hoses or plugs going to it. not sure how to explain it.
How do you replace the blower motor on a 1994 chevy lumina euro?
No, the tensioner pulley and the idler pulley are not the same, although they serve similar functions in a vehicle's serpentine belt system. The tensioner pulley is designed to maintain the proper tension on the belt, while the idler pulley guides the belt and helps maintain its path. In a 1998 Chevy Cavalier, the tensioner pulley is adjustable to compensate for belt wear, whereas the idler pulley is typically fixed.
cant adjust must replace
I don't believe there is an idler pulley on that model, just a tensioner pulley
I want to take off the pulley wheel off, from a 1992 chevy lumina apv van.
