The wheel speed sensor (aka 'exciter') ring is part of the axle assembly - so the only way to replace the ring is to replace the axle.

If it is 4x4 remove axle from wheel bearing assembly and then remove the wheel bearing assembly. Make sure the tone ring (looks like a ring with teeth) is still attached to the spped sensor side of the bearing, if not, replace wheel bearing assembly with an assembly that comes with the speed sensor. Replacing a speed sensor without a tone ring is pointless because it won't work.
The 1998 Ford Ranger speed sensor ring can be located on the passenger wheel. The speed sensor ring will be on the inside of the brake rotor.
Yes, the Ford Fusion is equipped with wheel sensor rings, commonly known as tone rings or reluctor rings, which are used in conjunction with the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and traction control systems. These rings are typically mounted on the wheel hub and work with wheel speed sensors to monitor the rotational speed of each wheel. If you need to replace a wheel sensor ring, it's advisable to consult your vehicle's service manual or a professional mechanic for the correct part and installation procedures.
The speed sensor is on the front passenger side of the car. Loosen the nuts on the wheel, then jack it up. remove the wheel. As you look where the wheel was, to your left is the speed sensor. It is at an angle, angled towards the back of the car. first unhook the wires attached. you can do this by hand. next, remove the bolt that is holding the speed sensor on. I believe it is a 10mm, and you will need a deep socket. once you remove the bolt, the sensor slides right out. Also, make sure you replace the "O" ring on the sensor. this is an easy job.
The speed sensor is located on the backside of the front wheel hubs. They read using the gear ring on the axle shaft.
The wheel speed sensor (WSS) is located on top of the rear differential on a 1999 Dodge 2500 4X4. The sensor interacts with a tone ring sandwiched behind the differential ring gear. As the differential ring gear rotates the tone ring sends signals through the wheel speed sensor; the signal is converted to vehicle speed by the Power-train Computer Module and ultimately displayed on the drivers speedometer. The WSS is also used to signal the anti-lock braking system computer under severe braking conditions.
The code C0040 is related to the right front wheel speed sensor there is a fault from either obstruction on the sensor to detection ring(ie debris on sensor or ring surface) or it can be a bad sensor in need of replacement.
if you take the front wheels off of the car then look on the drive shaft by the wheel hub and strut you will see a ring that has slots in it this is part of the speed sensor the other part is conected very close to that ring and usually has two wires running from the pcm to the speed sensor if you need more help email me tunerboy369@yahoo.com
The tone ring on a 2007 Ford Escape is a toothed ring that is part of the vehicle's anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction control system. It is typically located on the wheel hub or axle and works in conjunction with a sensor to detect the speed of the wheels. The tone ring generates a signal as the teeth pass by the sensor, allowing the vehicle's computer to monitor wheel speed and help prevent wheel lockup during braking. If the tone ring is damaged or malfunctioning, it can lead to issues with the ABS and traction control systems.
its a pickup sensor on the rear of gearbox and runs of a reluctor ring in the box same as a abs sensor ring
The sensor id located on thr top left side of the rear differential, held in with 1 bolt, pry it out, buy a new one at any parts store. The sensor pickes up the signal from a toothed ring attached to the ring gear, and sends the signal to the processor behind the speedometer needle. If the needle wavers, then it is that processor that is bad, a common problem.
I have 1997 Nissan Maxima. You ned to replace the entire hub assembly. My problem is that they discontinued the 1997 hub assembly and the suggested replacement part's ABS ring is 4MM taller therefore the ABS sensor cannot clear the ABS ring. Any ideas on this one?
