To replace the ignition switch on a 1973 Duster, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Remove the steering column cover by unscrewing the screws, then locate the ignition switch mounted on the column. Detach the wiring harness and remove the retaining screws to take out the old switch. Install the new switch by reversing the steps, ensuring all connections are secure before reconnecting the battery.
