remove access panel mark were it fits unbolt it and replace wiyh making sure to line it up with marks made before removing old one
May be a BCM glitch or the rear trunk latch there is a recall from gm about the rear hatch latch

If it's the lock itself and not the latch, you might as well replace the lock.
