The entire Jeep tail-light housing, the whole red and clear plastic casing, must be removed and the bulbs socket fixture will be apparent. You'll need the appropriate 1/4" or 3/8" socket, a matching extension and ratchet to do that. Don't bother trying with a pair of pliers or crescent wrench! There are 3 to four bolts depending on the year model. There may also be a hook on the bottom of the housing that goes into the sheet metal. Pull the top of the housing away and rotate downward to unhook. The bulbs twist out like a bayonet mount camera lens, less than a quarter turn counterclockwise usually.
