You go into the phlenum the same way as described, but you modify the factor door instead of buying one for over $100. Not only does it save you the cost and time from not having to remove the entire dash, but you don't have to buy the expensive replacement part. For more details ask back.

To replace the actuator blend door in a 2000 Lincoln LS, first disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues. Then, remove the dashboard and the center console to gain access to the HVAC system. Locate the blend door actuator, typically positioned near the heater core, and unbolt it from its mounting. Disconnect the electrical connector, replace the actuator with the new one, and reassemble the dashboard and console.
I believe it is located behind the glove compartment. Drop out the glove compartment box and you will see the blend door actuator.
