To replace the coolant reservoir on a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue, first ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove any mounting bolts or clips securing the reservoir, then carefully detach the hoses. Install the new reservoir by attaching the hoses and securing it with the bolts or clips, then refill the coolant and check for leaks before reconnecting the battery.
NOTE: this answer is describing the location of the engine coolant temperature sensor - NOT the coolant sensor in the reservoir that warns when the level gets too low.The coolant temperature sensor is located directly adjacent to the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is what the upper radiator hose (toward the right side of the engine compartment) connects to. You do not have to replace the reservoir to replace this part, but leaky coolant reservoirs are a common problem on this model.
Overflow Bottle.
The engine coolant reservoir is in the engine compartment , on the drivers side , near the firewall
Coolant is added to the plastic reservoir under the hood.
After you have completed work on the cooling system and you begin to replace the coolant, open the bleeder a couple turns. As you pour coolant into the reservoir air trapped will escape out the bleeder. As soon as you see coolant come out of the bleeder close the bleeder valve and continue to add coolant to the reservoir until you have reached the full mark. Replace cap on reservoir. Allow vehicle to run through a drive cycle and cool down. Top off reservoir to full mark if necessary.
Top off the coolant reservoir.
Add the coolant into the coolant reservoir. Be sure the engine is cool when you remove the cap off the reservoir.
Clean the reservoir and flush the cooling system.
Fill the reservoir with G12 VW coolant only and it will go into the engine.
32.75 quarts ( includes the heater and 5 quarts in the coolant reservoir )
there is a 10 mm bolt right underneath the coolant reservoir an a clip securing it down in the back remove both of those and it will come out
The radiator does not have a cap, instead, the coolant system reservoir is also pressurized and the pressure cap is on the reservoir.
