Its not fun, remove your grill, 4 screws on top and 3 snap clips on the bottom holing it in. then remove the headlight assm. and there you have it. No quick easy way to do it.

no the trans from a 96 sierra is for the old small block chevy 5.0 5.7 engines. your 4.8 has a completely different bolt pattern due to being a different engine family

helps to have the year but 96 and up are computer controlled and there is no timing adjusment only cam adjustment
There is a silver leaver on the bottom of the arm. push or pull it and the arm should come off if not to rusted on.

It might be the high/low beam switch. Had to replace one on my '96 when I had only low beams.
There isn't a tv cable on the 96. GM replaced the 700R4 / 4L60 with the 4L60E transmission in 1993. They are electronic soleniod controlled transmissions thus eliminating the need for a tv cable.
