This is not a hard job. I myself have an 87 Ford and i just did this! dont rip apart your steering wheel! first remove the bolts where the shaft goes through the fire wall! there is like 8! Then pop the hood and there is one bolt on the steering shaft take that off. Next remove the aluminum plate in the shaft the steering wheel should fall, pull in completely off, but before that disconnect the wires that go into the harness(ignition switch). There is a rod that goes into the switch which turns the truck on and the radio and so forth! Take off the 2 bolts holding the switch in! Becareful not to break them. Then put the new switch in adjust it to neutral with the little wire they give you. Be really careful tightening the switch to the shaft. If you snap thosebolts you will have to get a whole new shaft! Then adjust the switch so when you turn the ignition everything works like normal then tighten the switch to the shaft and reverse the steps for reassemble!
