I own a 1993 Mazda 929 and have replaced the brake light bulbs a few times. You have to go in the trunk and pull back the fiber material covering the back of the tail light assembly. You will see two screws witha plastic stud behind them. You must loosen these but do not remove completely. Just turn them a quarter turn or so after you have loosened them and the tail light assembly will loosen. There are two more screws you need to fully remove outside of the trunk. One is long and one is short. They are connected to the tail light assembly. After you do this the assembly will come right out. Locate the bulb you need to replace (there are 3) and give it a twist - it will pop out. Make sure you replace with the proper bulb! just take it to the auto parts store or find out which one you need and buy it before you start.
