Take your keyless entry and hold the lock and unlock button at the same time for 7 seconds
the anti theft is most likely the culprit. you must reset the anti theft. usually with a reset button or by locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key.
That is true on one of my 97 Chevy cavalier z24,but not with the other 2. (97 & 99) On mine, I just leave the key on for 15-20 mins. turn off key, then restart.
unplug the battery for about half an hour and that will reset the car.
The steering and ignition will become locked on a 97 Chevy Cavalier if the key is not inserted into the ignition and turned. This helps to prevent theft.

Go to your nearest Ford Dealer and buy a replacement remote and have it reprogrammed. It's not the cheapest way, but it is the easiest way.
Try taking the battery cable off for 5 minutes it should reset its self.

there is no fuel shut off switch it is the theft computer and must be reset by a scan tool at the dealer
You need an auto locksmith to do it. It takes a special (and expensive) computer program to input data to ECU and reset PATS (passive anti theft) Go to Craigslist, look for auto locksmith (under services) find one that is mobile, and they can do it in 5 minutes. Do not go to dealer
