on my 1997 xlt code was on a module located in jack area on drivers side. Get a flashlight and look on back of box for a 5 digit code. I tried it and it worked. The module is way in front of the jack. You may need to loosen or pull back this square metal box. You will need a flashlight. Check your owners manual to reset your code to what you want it to be.
