Press the "Setup" Button and follow the instructions to do a full system check. When the oil life indication comes up (usually 0% - 10%), press and hold the reset button. When you release the button, it should read, "To reset oil life, press reset". At that point hold the "Reset button until it beeps, or turns back to 100%. Initially, you may have to hold the reset button, after the system check begins, when you get to the oil life indication, but with a little patience, you should be able to conquer that rotten light. If you can't get it to work, call your dealer, or a certified mechanic and try to get the information. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Tried the answer above for my '03 Mountaineer and it didn't work. Here's how you do it, easily and correctly, the first time. Ignition on, press the Set Up button once and the display will say "Press Reset for Sys Check" but don't press reset, wait a second or two and press Set Up again and you'll be able to scroll through the options. Keep pressing until you get to the one that says "Pres Reset at Oil Change" and follow the instructions from there....
press the setup button until it switches to life, then press reset, if the oil life is already up press reset first then press setup until it switches to oil life, then reset again
If you reset oil life without changing the oil you will throw it off schedule.
