  • Take off the distributor cap
  • Remove rotor by pulling upward, not required but that thing is sharp and will remove chunks of your hand if you slip.
  • Look at the points, they are usually retained by one screw and pivot on a point usually at the pivot of the contact points.
  • There will be a little notch and a couple blobs of metal at the contact end of the points to use a screw driver to adjust this.
  • Get the wear block on the point of one of the lumps of the little 6 or 8 point cam so the points are open, this requires rotating the engine.
  • Now use a feeler gauge to measure your gap and loosen the mounting screw just enough you can adjustment using the little pry point provided.

The better way is to use a dwell meter, or better yet up grade to an electronic ignition.
