why does my door ajar alarm keep coming on and off while driving my car.
If the lights are on and the door is ajar it will make a steady alarm.
Each door has an ajar sensor. Disconnect it and see if it works. If it does not work, just unplug the ajar alarm, which is a small black box, from the panel to disable it.
this problem is related to the door ajar switch which is connected to the latch. spray wd-40 into the latch and it should go away.
Try shutting the door.
make sure ALL the doors are closed
To stop the door ajar alarm on a 1999 Mercury Cougar, you should check the fuse for the interior lights and door ajar system, typically labeled as "DOME" or "INTERIOR." This fuse is usually located in the fuse box under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. If the fuse is blown, replacing it may stop the alarm. However, it's essential to inspect the door switches and wiring for any issues if the alarm persists after replacing the fuse.
I am having this same problem on my 98 venture. Except mine is stuck slightly open and the alarm is going off. I just turned the "Door Ajar" alarm and the interior lights off. But i would liek to fix this, too.
You have to take it to a shop to have the computer resetAnswerMost likely it's either the door ajar alarm or the seatbelt alarm.
Shut the door!
Since all alarm systems vary, first consult the owners manual for your monitoring system. It may be improperly programmed, or it may have settings which set it off if there is a door or window ajar, etc. If you have a service which includes a third-party monitor, contact the service department, who should be able to see what is going on in real-time with you.
The ajar switch is part of the latch, inside the door.
