i had the same problem with 2001 mondeo 2litre you have a abs pump with a senser attached to it its the senser that is probably the fault i advise you if that is the fault be prepared for a large bill Ford quoted me £970+vat managed to source 1 from breaker still cost me around £300 because the senser has to be remaped to car by ford
