It depends. If you have Onstar, which you probably do (mine does), you will need aan Onstar kit which will run you about $100. If you don't get one, the onstar and door/key/headlights chime won't work.. I just put a Kenwood head unit in my 02. I went without the Onstar kit because I don't use it and I can get by without the chime. The woodgrain (plastic) piece just snaps off. Then take the factory unit out. There are 2 screws at the bottom of the panel that will need to come out, but to get to them, you must take the console, which just snaps off off and turn the console (gear shift area) so you can get to the 2 screws. There are 6 screws on and in the console compartment first that will need to come out. Pull it out and there are 2 more that need to come out under it.
