Usually most automatics say to warm engine to normal temp on level/flat ground, then place/set parking brake (I ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE IN THE CAR WITH FEET ON THE BRAKES), place transmission in neutral, then check the dipstick. This one is a real pain it is mostly on the back side of the motor kind of under the power brakes reservoir.
