In a 1996 Ford E-150, the rear air conditioning system operates by utilizing a separate evaporator and blower unit located at the back of the vehicle. When the front AC is activated, it circulates refrigerant through the rear unit, allowing it to cool the air. The blower then distributes the cooled air through vents in the rear passenger area. This system works in conjunction with the front AC controls, allowing for independent temperature settings in the rear.
the rear ac drain is right under the ac unit in rear driver side of van. my 1996 g-10 conversion van had a clear tube that was clogged, and leaked out in the rear soaking the carpet. just remove the clear tubing, clean it out and replace. i dont know about the front.
The rear AC in your 1996 GMC Suburban may not be blowing cold due to several reasons, including low refrigerant levels, a malfunctioning compressor, or a clogged cabin air filter. Additionally, leaks in the AC system or issues with the rear AC controls can also prevent proper cooling. It's best to have a professional inspect the system to diagnose and resolve the issue effectively.
Your rear ac expansion valve is located on the right rear inside your distribution assembly. You will have to remove the inner right side interior to get to it. It is encased inside the black assembly along with the heater core.
I had this same problem and was told that the rear ac lines are leaking. It doent make sense. but that is what i was tol $1100.00 to replace the lines I asked why would the rear work and not the front if the rear was leaking and they could not explain.
MOre INFO about our vehicle: When we first bought this Ford Expedition, the rear ac worked great! It was Ice Cold. However, we noticed that when we turned the Rear Heat on to test it out, after that, the rear AC stopped working. As if the car dealership "rigged" the ac to work, but once the heat was turned on it made only the heat work. Please give me some ideas as to what you think could need fixed--a switch, valve, etc. And if you can say where to look that would be appreciative. Thanks!!!!!
Check for a second fan switch on the control panel by the radio.
Have you checked your liftgate fuse? In my 2006 Yukon, when the liftgate fuse went out the rear ac wouldn't work nor would the electric locks for the liftgate itself.
There were 2 options for the rear control units, 1 was AC only, 1 was heat and AC. If your controls above the second seat only have 1 knob, it's AC only, the heat/AC version has 3 knobs. The correct Answer: 1996 - 2000 (Old Body Style) Tahoes and Yukons only got the rear air option. Suburbans and Yukon XL's get the Heat and AC option.
where is the rear AC blower on the Chevy Astro 98
Is the rear blower functioning? If so the AC system may be undercharged. I would first suggest checking that the system is properly charged, if it is then there may be a blockage of some type in one of the lines.
rear window defroster light keeps flashing
gants, I have Denali 2004, the rear AC blower not working
