The 1996 Chevy S 10 pickup truck bell housing is held in place with eight retaining bolts. Remove the retaining bolts and the bell housing will separate from the transmission.
Once you have the driveshaft off and the crossmember out the engine-tranmission assembly will pivot enough in the motor mounts to let you get at them.
Remove 2 mounting bolts and replace
It is inside of the transmission bell housing. You will have to remove the transmission to service it.
you can but depending on the transmission model you might have to buy a different bell housing for it
No Take the cross member from the tail shaft off and lower the transmission you can reach the top bolts with a 3 foot extension and a swivel
On a 2003 Chevy S10, the starter is located on the passenger side of the engine, near the transmission bell housing. You can access it from underneath the vehicle, and it's mounted to the engine block with bolts. Make sure to disconnect the battery before attempting any repairs or replacements to avoid electrical shock.
Inside bell housing. Transmission has to be removed to gain access to the slave cylinder/throw-out bearing.

The thermostat is under the housing that the top radiator hose connects to, remove the hose then the housing and change the thermostat. The bolts are metric so be prepared with the proper tools.
if a 4.3 yes... if is a 2.2 need 4.3 bell housing
Remove the old one, put the new one in. It's pretty cut and dry. Secure a transmission jack under the transmission, detach anything attached to the transmission, unbolt the bolts on the bell housing, and the transmission comes right out.
