The type of transmission fluid to use is Dexron III. Capacity is about 8 quarts depending on if the transmission is dry, including the torque converter.
A 727 TorqueFlite transmission typically uses around 12 to 13 quarts of fluid, which is approximately 11 to 12 liters. However, the exact amount can vary depending on the specific application and whether the transmission has a cooler or additional components. Always refer to the manufacturer's specifications for the most accurate information.
The fluid capacity for a 1976 Dodge van equipped with a 727 transmission is approximately 11 quarts when replacing the fluid and filter. If you are only draining the pan without changing the filter, the capacity is around 5-6 quarts. It's always a good practice to check the owner's manual or service guide for the specific model for precise specifications.
