I did a quick Google search of my own for my 1999 Taurus, and it appears to be anywhere from $700-1000 (but without labour). I think it also depends where you get it done at, a Ford dealership will most likely cost more than an independent mechanic. Dealerships do charge more but on occasion will have more expertise with a specific model. Definitely be prepared to drop $1000 for your new/old transmission, and if it is less, than you will be ahead of the game!

Simply to remove and replace it is about $1000-1250 at most garages. No trans work or cost of new unit included.
