No definite answer here...
A transmission might run you from around 500-1500 dollars at a junkyard.
a clutch disk and pressure plate (includes pilot bushing, throwout bearing, and Clutch alignment tool) is around 130 dollars New.
A flywheel should run you around 50-100 dollars at a junkyard.
A clutch pedal assembly for a 84-92 camaro would cost you around 30-100 dollars at a junkyard.
a clutch master and slave cylinder from a 82-92 is around 230 dollars New.
a 93-96 camaro has a stainless steel braided hose from the clutches master-slave cylinder and should fit. If u find one for the v6 you will need to buy a slave cylinder for the v8. other than that the v6 pedals and master should work for the v8.
The crossmember should come with the transmission if not it will cost you around 20-50 dollars.
Make sure you get the right transmission.... 84-87should be mechanical speedometer.
88-90 very on mechanical speedometer and electrical speedometer. and 90-92 is electrical speedometer. the v6 transmissions in these years should work and is easier to come by. but will need a bellhousing and clutch fork and for the v8. that will cost u around 100 dollars.
Good luck and do some research Ive been gathering parts to do mine for a while and it has been a chore. I wished i would have done a T56 swap once i started.
Best choice would be a TH700-R4
Sure! But it would probably be cheaper to buy another car.
Why the hell would you want to?
You could, but it would be easier and cheaper to buy a manual truck.
Nither get a v8 manual. you would be wasting your time putting a super or turbo charger in a v6 auto.
The 1991 Chevrolet Camaro with the 3.1-liter V6 typically came equipped with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The specific transmission model could vary based on the trim level and options chosen. The manual option would often be the Getrag 282, while the automatic would likely be the 4L60E.
That really just depends on the car and if it's a 4,5,or a 6 speed.
Yes you can, but generally the differences between manual and automatic transmissions go far deeper than just the transmissions to the point where it would be more cost effective to simply sell your current car and buy a manual one.
Yes, by removing the manual transmission and installing an automatic. Unless you have a donor car this would be extremely expensive. My advice is that if you want an A/T sell the car you have and then buy one with an automatic.
That would be the 4L60E
You cannot convert an automatic transmission to a manual one, but you can replace the automatic with a manual. It is a big job and if you do not do it your self would probably cost a lot more than selling the automatic truck and buying a manual truck. The manual will require different shift linkage, adding clutch pedal and parts to actuate the clutch, and you may need a drive shaft of different length. It is also common for automatics and manuals to use different rear axle ratios, and even the Electrinic Control Module and some wiring may need to be changed. Maybe that automatic is not so bad after all.
It would not likely be cost effective to convert the transmission. It would cost several thousand dollars, but it is doable.
