I found this out while trying several things on my 2000 van. You have to put your key in the ignition (don't turn it yet). Then push both the trip and odometer buttons and hold them in while turning the key to the first power on position (clockwise). Just enough for your odometer lights to come on. Your trip display should show miles travelled instead of the odometer distance. Then release both buttons and push the trip button once. It will display the OBD code error your have! Good Luck.
